White gold is made by mixing gold with other metals. This method , called alloying, enables gold to be made in an array of colours. White gold is made with a mixture of gold, copper, zinc, nickel or palladium.
White gold is generally finished with a plating of another metal called rhodium. This process of "rhodium plating" gives the metal a whiter finish. For a more detailed explanation of the rhodium plating process please peruse our polishing and rhodium plating section in our services.
