Zircon comes in a variety of attractive colours including yellow, green, red, brown, and purple. The most common colour is a ocean greenish blue known as zircon blue. In the early 20th century, colourless zircon was used as an affordable substitute for diamond.
Folklore attached to zircon suggests the gem promotes good wealth, wisdom, and prevents insomnia.
Hardness: 6-7.5 on Mohs scale.
Toughness: Fair to good.
